BSc degree

CSE offers a 3-year Bachelor's degree (in Finnish), with the possibility to combine it with a 2-year Master's Degree (in English).

This degree programme provides a strong basis in mathematics and extensive knowledge and skills in software and computer engineering and science. The degree programme differs, for example, from the degree programme in Information Processing Science in its emphasis on mathematics, computing hardware, and signal processing.

There are three specializations you can choose from:

  • The Information Processing Engineering option educates specialists with strong theoretical and practical know-how about digital information processing and analysis. The advanced studies can focus either on intelligent systems, signal processing, or biomedical information engineering.
  • The Applied Computing option educates specialists that use fundamental knowledge of computing in the real world, to solve real-world problems for real companies, special groups, and individuals. The advanced studies can focus either on the technology or the economy of  applied computing.
  • The Embedded Systems option educates experts with detailed knowledge of designing embedded systems and software. The advanced studies can focus on either the software or hardware of embedded systems.

Completing  the studies in this degree programme provides a student with knowledge and skills in computer and software engineering and information technology that can be applied in research and development, production, marketing, and management.

The intake for this program will be 50 students within the spring 2016 application round.
