Several positions are open for experienced researchers in Wireless Connectivity, Distributed Computing and Intelligence, RF and Antennas and/or experimental test network towards 6G. We expect researchers to have strong expertise in at least one techonology area and passion to discover new innovative combinations of them for vertical applications in close collaboration with our partner network.
We offer a highly innovative, international working environment and increasingly challenging research topics deriving from our vision on 6G.
Our society is data-driven, enabled by near-instant, unlimited wireless connectivity. 6G will emerge around 2030 to satisfy the expectations not met with 5G, as well as, the new ones fusing AI inspired applications in every field of society with ubiquitous wireless connectivity.
6Genesis flagship aims at supporting industry in finalisation of the 5G standard, developing the essential technology components needed for 6G, and speeding up digitalisation of society via introduction of 5G and eventually 6G through implementing and demonstrating targeted vertical applications in areas such as health, industrial internet of things, and smart traffic. Our existing state-of-the-art 5G Test Network provides a unique real-life research environment to be developed towards the 6G era.
Flagship experts will consider several interrelated research areas including wireless connectivity solutions, distributed intelligent computing, device implementations and vertical specific applications and services. The major change required in future value chains is also addressed, which will drive the innovation cycle from academic research to complete solutions benefiting the entire society.
Profile of the ideal candidate
We are looking for researchers with various backgrounds, however possessing the following experience:
- Doctoral degree in computer science, electrical engineering, communications engineering or corresponding field, and research experience
- Excellent English and multi-cultural communication skills
- Solid team work and project management skills

What we offer
Our researchers will enjoy a competitive salary, fully paid free time equivalent of holiday and benefits such as occupational healthcare. The selected candidates will have full-time, fixed-term positions with an annual working time of 1624 hours. The terms of employment are determined by the Collective Agreement for Finnish Universities. A maximum of six months’ trial period is applied according to the regular practice in Finnish universities.
The exact starting date will be agreed upon separately with the preferred starting date in April or May 2020.
