The new organization of doctoral training has been introduced by Professor Markku Juntti, the Dean of the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS).
The structures have been changed and simplified to make doctoral education more efficient. The structural changes also support the new strategy of the University of Oulu (see the figure of the new structure here).
From the beginning of January 2017, there are four multidisciplinary doctoral programmes, corresponding to each of the doctoral training committees. The main role of the doctoral programmes is to organize the field-specific training. Each doctoral student will belong to one of the four doctoral programmes:
- Human Sciences Doctoral Programme (Ihmistieteiden tohtoriohjelma)
- Technology and Natural Sciences Doctoral Programme (Tekniikan ja luonnontieteiden tohtoriohjelma )
- Health and Biosciences Doctoral Programme (Terveys- ja biotieteiden tohtoriohjelma)
- Information Technology and Electrical Engineering Doctoral Programme (Tieto- ja sähkötekniikan tohtoriohjelma)
