Textile Work 25 ECTS credits

The scientific foundation for these studies is provided by craft science and crafts, art and technology education. Handicrafts, especially textile work and technology, are examined as a part of culture and the environment in such a way that problems related to products and ways of working are solvable through active and experiential interaction between thinking and action. Both ethical and aesthetic sensitivities are fostered in user-centred design in relation to ecological, social, cultural and economic factors. The pedagogical and didactic aim of the course is for the future teacher to be able to offer guidance in solving problems related to the material world in a contextually appropriate manner. This minor subject gives student teachers the capacity to teach textile work and to develop the handicrafts.

Application Procedure

The students in the Faculty of Education can apply for the right to study a minor subject as part of the Faculty’s common application process for minor subjects to be arranged in the spring term.
