Time Interval Measurement Techniques

Time-to-digital converter (TDC) circuits based on digital delay line interpolation are being developed aiming at picosecond precision in a wide time interval measurement range (micro...milliseconds) in multi-channel CMOS IC realizations. Also, analog interpolation techniques have been developed achieving a single shot precision of 1ps in PCB realizations.

A recently designed fully integrated 7-channel CMOS TDC that achieves a single shot precision of better than 10ps in a measurement range of  +/-75 microseconds. (0.35µm CMOS, chip size 2.4mm × 3.7mm).
