Surface plasmons at work: Visible and infrared light enhanced catalysis and gas sensing (01.09.2014-31.08.2018)

In the framework of a collaborative effort between physicists, chemists and environmental engineers, we endeavor to study and exploit surface plasmon resonance to enhance catalytic reactions as well as resistive gas sensing on the surface of nanostructured plasmonic metal particles. Correlation between the physical parameters of particles and their catalytic and gas sensing properties will be established. Emphasis will be placed on developing and exploring cost-effective catalytic/sensing systems and synthesis methods to allow widespread and affordable applications.
