This introductory course aims to help a new Finnish learner to cope with the most common everyday situations in Finnish. During the course, you will learn useful everyday phrases, general features of the vocabulary and grammar, and the main principles of Finnish-language pronunciation.
The topics and communicative situations covered in the course: general information about Finnish language, some politeness phrases (how to greet, thank and apologize), introducing oneself, asking about and providing basic personal information, numbers, some time expressions (how to tell and ask the time, days of the week, times of day), food, drink and asking about prices.
This modern and flexible online course
- has 4 time-dependent online lessons (every other Monday at 16-18, on 3.10., 17.10., 31.10. and 14.11.), otherwise you can proceed at your own speed during the course (the teacher will be there to support you online)
- uses many methods to support effective learning: a course study booklet, Zoom lessons, lively videos, an interactive learning platform, flashcards, vocabulary lists, audio recordings, and exams.
The course teachers are the University of Oulu's qualified, and much liked, Finnish-language teachers.
