PhD in Hydrogeology, MS in Water Resources Engineering
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Syed Mustafa currently works at the Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering Research Unit of the University of Oulu in Finland and at the School of Geosciences of the University of Aberdeen in the UK. He received his Ph.D. in Hydrogeology with the greatest distinction from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Belgium. Over the last 10 years he has worked broadly on numerical modelling and uncertainty analysis of groundwater flow, hydrological extremes and their interaction with human activities, groundwater-surface water interactions. Syed is currently investigating (i) Integrated Hydrological Modelling for Water Retention and Optimal Crop Water Management, and (ii) the resilience of water resources and society to hydrological extremes in the Limpopo River Basin (LRB).
