Research-based inventions per year

The patent portfolio of the University of Oulu consists of over 40 patent families. The University of Oulu is actively commercialising its research results. About 50 new research-based inventions are made each year. In the last decade, the University of Oulu has produced over 70 research-based companies. 

Part of the inventions has been commercialised by licensing to the university’s research-based start-ups or other national or international companies. Part of the patents is looking for a commercialisation route or forming of a new start-up around them is currently going on. 

Here are the available technologies developed in the University of Oulu – the list is being updated. Companies can negotiate the rights of a certain technology and develop new products based on it. The terms of a licensing agreement are tailored case-specifically depending on the needs of the licensor and markets.
