'Smart Energy networks 2050' project featured on the webpage of Academy of Finland

Our project, Smart Energy Networks 2050 is featured on the webpage of the Academy of Finland. The story "Smart energy, wisely chosen" is based on an interview with project leader Prof. Eva Pongrácz. The interview highlights the importance of users in future carbon neutral networks. Smart grids integrate information and communication technologies (ICT) to improve energy safety and security but also the environmental sustaiability of energy systems. In terms of environmental impacts, it matters not only how much energy we use, but also when. Smart control systems in future houses could have such a function to improve the awarenss of users on the environmental consequences on their energy use choices.
