What is it?
The COVID-19 pandemic is significantly affecting our daily lives. In this challenging time, we are facing many new problems for which we have not yet come up with solutions. For example, although we are now able to go back to school, we still need to keep social distance with people (1.5 - 3m). How can we make action for this problem?
We are looking for your innovative solutions for the following challenge : How can we keep social distance at school and/or in any other public space?
The solution might include any kind of mechanical or electronic solution that facilitates somehow to keep social distance. The solutions do not need to be fabricated/built just a sketch or quick prototype make out of paper suffices.
For the selected two best solutions, the instructors at the Fab Lab Oulu will help to make your solution ideas as actual devices!
Who can participate?
We are encouraging all primary schools and secondary schools (Ala-aste ja Ylä-aste) in Finland to send the ideas to the challenge. Students can form teams of maximum 4 people. Minimum size of the team is two people.
In addition, one school teacher should "patronize" the group. He/She will be the contact person for all communication with the team. We do not expect teachers participate actively in the team work (brainstorming, writing documentation ...), in contrast teacher should just give puntual support to the team and collect all documentation/information of the team. Same teacher can patronize multiple teams.
How to participate?
The teacher acting as the team "patron" should collect all information and fill the following form:
The form includes following questions:
- Contact information from teacher "patron" and name of students
- Title of the solution
- Explain how the solution works
- Explain the components/parts needed to build the solution
- Justify why the solution is innovative. What makes it different from other possible solutions?
