the International Congress for Finno-Ugric Studies is organized every five years alternating between Finland, Estonia, Hungary, and Russia. It is the largest congress in its field and it brings together scholars of Finno-Ugric languages and peoples. The congress has traditionally been interdisciplinary: linguists, archeologists, historians, folklorists, ethnologists, and literary scholars with a research focus in Finno-Ugric languages and cultures are invited to attend.
The XII International Congress for Finno-Ugric Studies will be organized at the University of Oulu on the Linnanmaa campus from August 17 to August 21, 2015. The program will consist of plenary papers, symposia, and general session papers. The congress will have no single particular theme, but we aim at a more coherent thematic whole. The link below will lead you to the conference website, which is available in Finnish, English, and Russian languages. The website will be updated as further details become available.
We invite you to submit proposals for symposia via email to address harri.mantila(at)oulu.fi by September 30, 2013. The proposals must contain the name and contact information of the main organizer and the general theme of the symposium. The proposal should be written in English. The organizer will be responsible for evaluating the submitted abstracts. If a publication is planned, the organizer will also be responsible for editing and publishing the volume.
Welcome to Oulu in 2015!
