Destinations available in the application round are in the United States, Canada, Australia and ISEP Program destinations in the US and other countries. The exchange period is either Autumn 2020 or Spring 2021. See the call for applications for more detailed information about the application process, infosessions and destinations included in this application round. 1. Study Plan: (scanned document) Make a study plan for all your choices. Familiarise yourself with the host university’s study guide(s) on their website. If no study guides are available for the desired exchange period, please finalise your study plan according to ongoing semester. Select approximately five courses for your study plan and list them all in one A4 sheet (name, code and description of the course). Ask your Faculty International Coordinator, study adviser, amanuensis or professor to check, approve and sign your study plan. This person should be someone responsible for giving a statement of recognition of studies abroad.
2. Transcript of Records: (scanned document) You need to get an official Transcript of Records in English from the Student Center which shows the average grades of your studies. Please ask for a Transcript for “international use”. The Transcript is a correct one when your annual average grades are visible. The transcript taken from Oodi is not valid, because it does not show the average grades of your studies. In order to be selected you need an average grade of 3.0 or higher.
3. Upper secondary school certificate or equivalent (scanned document) which shows the student’s grade in English language:
Accepted students should submit a Certificate from the Language Services unless TOEFL or IELTS is required. Accepted ISEP-students should submit TOEFL, IELTS or ISEP Language Proficiency Report depending on the site.
4. Motivation Letter (uploaded document, e.g. Word document) in English. In this letter you tell us your academic and other possible reasons on why you wish to go on exchange. Maximum length: 400 words. You can find a lot of guidelines on how to write a Motivation letter on the internet. Please note that The Motivation Letter is written to the Selection Team in the University of Oulu.
Selection Process: Selections are done based on academic motivation, motivation towards exchange, language skills and success in studies. Possible cancellations in previous Calls for Application may weaken the possibilities in the application process. After the deadline all applications are evaluated and selection is done by a team that consists of members from International Services. All applicants are informed about the selection. When a selected candidate has confirmed his/her selection in SoleMOVE, the application process continues according to host universities’ application process. The final decision is always made by the host university.
When the call opens you can find more detailed information about the application process, info sessions and other relevant information in the Call for Applications which will be published here and on the Open exchange calls webpage.
