MANAGEMENT IN SOCIAL AND HEALTH CARE (HealthManagement) - RESEARCH GROUP
The research group is researching social and health care management, services and staff wellbeing from the viewpoints of patients, professionals and managers.
- Management and leadership in social and health care: leading digital services, competence, remote leadership, knowledge-based management, leading evidence-based health care, multidisciplinary collaboration and leadership, competence and change management
- Social and health services: person and patient-centeredness, frequent attenders, digital social and health services, experiences of artificial intelligence, co-creation and value creation, collaboration management
- Staff wellbeing in social and health care: the impact of digitalization on the wellbeing of managers and staff, interventions promoting wellbeing and competence
Research materials include qualitative and quantitative data: materials are based on interviews and surveys of patients, professionals and managers, documents, and register-based and intervention studies. The group has a diverse expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research, and in particularly content analysis, descriptive and multivariate statistical methods, and systematic and scoping reviews (under the guidance of the Joanna Briggs Institute).

We produce research evidence on the functionality and equal access of responsible, high-quality, and sustainable social and health services to different customer groups, as well as on the digitalization of services. Research evidence is produced to enhance effective managerial practices and to meet the challenges of digitalizing social and health management. Our research interests also focus on wellbeing at work and its promotion, such as recruiting professionals, developing competence, training, and supporting for staying at work in the labor-intensive social and health sector.
Our goal is to achieve a higher level of productivity in social and health services through technological renewal and innovations, as well as competent professionals. Our goal is also a healthy life and wellbeing for all ages, as well as the reduction of inequality, the promotion of justice and participation in different customer and population groups.
Research evidence can be used in developing social and health services and management to be more effective, sustainable, humane, and responsive to the needs of a modern and digitalizing society.
Research evidence is produced in collaboration with local and national actors and the service system to meet the needs of social and health services, management, and education and teaching. We educate experts for demanding specialist and management tasks based on research evidence.
