Esa Ruuskanen: Research Projects and Publications

Research and teaching:

· Environmental history, especially regarding wetlands and former lakes in the Nordic countries, the British Isles and the Netherlands

· Nuclear energy and nuclear waste policies in Finland, Sweden, Germany and Japan from the Geneva conference to the Post-Fukushima era

· Divergence and convergence of the post-war Northern European energy and climate policies

· ICT history, especially the evolution of computational science and its impacts on innovations and innovation policies

· The History of the Utilization and Protection of Wetlands in the Nordic countries, the British Isles and the Netherlands, 1750-2010

· The Energy Challenge and How to Deal With It? Post-war Japan and Finland in Comparison (together with Associate Professor Park Seung-Joon, Kwansei Gakuin University, Osaka)

· Changes in Energy Production and Consumption Patterns in the Post-war Finland
