Diving into Arctic Dialogues Curriculum

Diving into Arctic Dialogues Curriculum includes a study period at the University of Lapland in the city of Rovaniemi and a joint study tour excursion to the town of Inari in Northern Lapland.

The study period offers you the chance to experience Arctic environments and address themes such as intercultural communications and Nordic values; environment and climate change; art in the north; Arctic studies and science communication.

Synopsis

The study period of Diving into Arctic Dialogues Curriculum will introduce students to different ways of dealing with change and addressing it through art, intercultural communication, Arctic studies and science communication. Aim of the study period is to provide knowledge about different dialogues existing in the arctic society and give participants a chance to experience Arctic environments from different perspectives.

Students will learn to understand Arctic as a region from the perspective of social and environmental sciences, science communication as a tool for change, as well as distinguish the special nature of Arctic art. Special emphasis is put on Finnish culture in contrast to other Nordic cultures, as well as participants’ cultures.

The study period will include lectures, discussions, independent work, field visits to interesting locations and extracurricular activities
