The Researchers´ Night 2018 in the Linnanmaa Campus, University of Oulu gathered in total 2500 visitors of all ages. The visitors got a wide view on different scientific disciplines and research work done at the University. Dozens of researchers, students, and staff members opened the doors to the source of science; for example to novel uses of light, health monitoring, big and small bugs, and environmental research among many other topics.
I4FUTURE participated in the event with introducing its several research themes including possibilities to test the research equipment with no age limits. The main focus of the 2018 presentation was in the visual inspection of the substances with different types of microscopy technologies. A sunny add to the introduction spots was the wheel of fortune, which was the star attraction especially among the youngsters. While waiting for their turn to spin the wheel, they eagerly listened the introductions placed next to the queue, but also grabbed to the testing devices when possible.
The Researchers' Night was arranged in 11 cities in Finland and in more than 300 European cities at the same time. The European Researchers' Night project is funded by the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions, contract number 817987.
