Coordinator's Greetings - Autumn 2019

The I4FUTURE programme has passed the half way stamp in the Early Stage Reseachers (ESR) training. The qualification to research career and the independency of the ESRs has really taken huge steps. I am very glad to see this! The fellows of the programme are extremely busy and occupied with multidisciplinary research. The actions hosted at University of Oulu are globally visible especially now when the secondments have been and are in progress. Results of the work are identified as number of scientific publications and dissemination outputs.

The five-day long summer school on “Methods for image and spectral data analysis and interpretation” was organized successfully the third time in May with wide participation of PhD students and personnel of the University. The ICFUTURE conference is approaching fast in January 2020 (Submit abstracts!).

We in administrative level have been participating in EU Research Executive Agency forums and workshops considering COFUND programmes. Seemingly the I4FUTURE is among the active and well maintained programmes running around the EU. Part of the programme practices are now benefitted in University of Oulu Industrial Doctorate programme starting up this autumn.

Naturally, the success is only possible through active ESRs, supervisors and partners affiliated to the I4FUTURE programme!

Best Greetings!
Remember to enjoy fresh autumn weather and Finnish nature.

Marko Huttula,

Prof. Nano and Molecular Systems Research Unit (Head)
Head of the I4FUTURE Programme
