Invitation to students´ digital readiness survey

Dear Student – please, respond to this students` digital readiness survey and help us to improve your university´s means of digital studying and quality of online teaching, learning and support. The responses are used (anonymously) for research purposes.

After you have created an individual account, if wished, the survey will send you an email message with a log-in link.  If you do not receive an email, please check your junk email folder as the message may be filtered.  Creating the survey account enables you to compare results when enough responses have been submitted to facilitate meaningful comparisons. We will send you an invitation email message to view these results when they are available. You can give your answers also without the individual account.

This survey explores the digital readiness of students and your higher education organization. The survey concentrates on the use, preparedness, resources and available support of and related to digital devices and tools. Especially the COVID-19 epidemic as raised the importance of digital readiness due to the transition from face-to-face teaching and work to remote operation. An interactive visualization service will enable the respondents to make comparisons of digital readiness among different respondent groups.

This survey is conducted as part of the Digital Campus project, promoted by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. The survey is managed by the TRIM Research Centre at the Tampere University Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences together with the research-based e-learning environment development team Ameba at the University of Eastern Finland. The survey begins in 5/2020 and ends in 12/2023.

The survey findings will be used to allocate further training, technical resources and means of support in  our higher education institutions. The findings may also be utilised in research publications (e.g. scientific articles in journals and conference papers). All publications will adhere to the ethics of science, and it will not be possible to identify individual respondents or small respondent groups.

Participation in the study is voluntary, and you may at any time cancel filling in the form. The email address requested in the survey form will only be used to access and scrutinize one’s own answers later, it will not be used in the analysis. We will not disclose individual answers to third parties at any stage. The raw survey data will be analysed and pseudonymised (i.e. the identifiers will be removed), after which the raw material will be destroyed by the end of 2023. The compiled and pseudonymised material will be kept at Tampere University’s TRIM Research Centre.
