Assessment of the vascular age by using DLS & Non-invasive optical measurement of hemoglobin: why it's possible?
Infotech Oulu Lecture Series Date: April 26, 2013Time: 13:00 - 14:30Room: TS487 Lecturer: Dr. Ilya Fine, Elfi-Tech, Israel Assessment of the vascular age by using DLS The Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) technique is widely used as a powerful tool tin bio-lab set-ups. This technique can be adopted for the research of the Red Blood Cells (RBC) movement in the blood plasma. In this lecture a new methodology of in vitro and in Vivo measurement , based on the DLS signals is explored. The newly developed methodology is applied for the analysis of the the interaction between the RBC's and endothelium of the blood vessels in vivo. There was found that the measured DLS pattern is related to the biological age. The observed age-related phenomena are caused by alteration in local blood viscosity and interactions of the endothelial cells with RBC's. The new non-invasive technique and methodology may be used as a research and diagnostc tool to examine the endothelial and thrombolytic properties of the vascular system.
