9-10 Introduction to gas sensors and electronic noses
Function principles of various gas sensors: electrochemical cells, pellistors, semiconductor gas sensors, GasFETs. Selectivity enhancement by multisensor systems (“electronic nose”)
10-12 Dynamic operation of gas sensors
Operating principles: temperature cycling, impedance spectroscopy, pulsed operation, field effect. Circuits and systems for dynamic operation and evaluation. Application example fire detection: Test systems for evaluation and calibration, field testing.
13-15 Fundamentals of multisensor signal evaluation
The four step concept of pattern recognition: data preprocessing, feature extraction, dimension reduction, classification. Application example ozone detection and quantification.
