Gleeble 3800 thermomechanical simulator

Gleeble 3800 thermomechanical simulator Installed in July 2010. Funded by Outokumpu Oyj, Rautaruukki Oyj and the University of Oulu (about 750 k€)
  • Maximum heating rate ca. 10.000 °C/s up to melting temperature
  • Cooling rates up to ca. 100 °C/s (or forced cooling by gas flow or quenching)
  • Maximum loading capacity 20 kN
  • Max. speed of the moving anvil 2 m/s (strain rates between 0.001 ... 50 1/s)

Applications such as:

  • simulation of continuous casting
  • simulation of hot rolling or forging processes
  • hot tension or compression (axisymmetric or plane strain) tests, stress-strain curves
  • hot ductility testing
  • softening kinetics by stress relaxation
  • simulation of annealing treatments
  • simulation of welding thermocycles
  • determination of TTT and CCT diagrams, including the effect of deformation
  • thermal fatigue and creep deformation
