Research Unit of Internal Medicine
The Research Unit of Internal Medicine conducts high-grade research under the leadership of professors, clinical instructors and docents. The latest evaluation of the Research Unit of Internal Medicine was conducted by an external panel appointed by the University in 2013. The RESEARCH ASSESSMENT EXERCISE REPORT 2014 found our research (Cardiovascular research community) to be of a high international standard and gave the Unit a rating of six points out of six (outstanding). The panel considered our study program renowned, not only nationally, but also internationally, and to be excellent and competitive. Research is conducted in the clinics, the Medical Research Center Oulu (MRC Oulu) and Biocenter Oulu, which accommodate the clinics’ research laboratories.
Research creates new knowledge and offers a possibility to review the customary health care practices and enable introduction of new diagnostic or therapeutic methods.
