Research Unit of Medical Imaging, Physics and Technology (MIPT)

The Medical Imaging, Physics and Technology Research Unit (MIPT) is unit that started operations at the beginning of 2015 as part of the University of Oulu Medical Faculty. The basic idea of the research unit is to strengthen scientific cooperation within the faculty.

MIPT offers high-quality training in medical imaging, physics and technology at the University of Oulu. The Master’s program in Biomedical Engineering is coordinated by the MIPT. We teach students of medicine, wellbeing technology and medical technology a number of subjects, such as diagnostic radiology, clinical neurophysiology, radiation safety, medical physics and medical technology.

The MIPT research teams develop new innovations not only for research but also for clinical use. We also offer our own expertise to other research teams.

The MIPT’s goal is to be the leading research unit in multimodal medical imaging (3Mi) and we also share our expertise with businesses, mainly in the Oulu region, but also nationally and internationally.

MIPT consists of research groups led by the head of the research team.
