Leader of research group : Collagen XVII research group since 1998

Supervised PhD thesis:  Erika Wikström (2013), Laura Huilaja (2008) and Mataleena Parikka (2003).

Collaboration with other research groups: I have a close collaboration with professor Leena Bruckner-Tuderman and her research group (Department of Dermatology, University of Freiburg, Germany) since 1997. In addition I have collaboration with the local research groups in the Institute of Dentistry and Medical Biochemistry, University of Oulu and Biocenter Oulu. Our research group belongs to the Center for Cell-Matrix Research of the University of Oulu. Recently I have started a novel, long term epidemiological research project entitled: “Skin Diseases in the Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1966 (NFBC66)”.
