In addition to the faculty´s degree programmes in Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, there are four master´s programmes in the field of health sciences. In one of the master´s programmes, the Master´s Programme in Biomedical Engineering, the language of instruction is English. In other degree and master´s programmes of the faculty the language of instruction is mainly Finnish and all applicants to these programmes have to pass the entrance exam held in Finnish language.
Master´s Programme in Biomedical Engineering is offered jointly by two faculties at the University of Oulu, the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. The programme leads either to the degree of Master of Health Sciences or to the degree of Master of Science (Technology) depending on which of these degrees - and at the same time focus areas - the applicant selects when filling the application.
The programme is research oriented to offer a strong basis for a research career. The graduates will obtain a wider-ranging interdisciplinary knowledge in medical and health technologies from theoretical and practical perspective, which profiles their know-how to problem oriented thinking and resolving.
