and are behind the research unit’s acronym (PEDEGO Research Unit - Research Unit for Pediatrics, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Surgery, Child Psychiatry, Dermatology, Clinical Genetics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Otorhinolaryngology and Ophthalmology).

The high level of the unit’s research is reflected in the substantial amount of competitive research funding received. The most significant external funding has been granted for research related to prevention of type 1 diabetes, mechanisms of premature birth, pediatric infectious diseases, genetics and mechanisms of early-onset multiorgan diseases and dermatological diseases.

In addition to research, PEDEGO is responsible for basic medical education as well as clinical and scientific postgraduate education. Pediatrics also organizes annually an international course in pediatrics.
