Research Unit of Surgery, Anesthesia and Intensive Care

The Research Unit of Surgery, Anesthesia and Intensive Care conducts extensive high-quality research. In 2017, the unit produced the Medical Faculty’s most prestigious doctoral thesis, which also won a nationwide prize in its field.

The unit’s wide field of research covers anesthesia and intensive care and surgery, including gastroenterological surgery, hand surgery, orthopedics and traumatology, plastic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, urology, vascular surgery and general surgery. Due to the very extensive research area the research activities of the unit cover a wide variety of topics.

In addition to research, an important part of the unit’s activities consists of basic medical education as well as clinical and scientific postgraduate education.
