Pictures about the nature of North-Finland: year 2003
Rukatunturi -fjeld in North-Kuusamo is not a real fjeld. There are no bare (treeless) fell-vegetation
on the toppart of this mountain. On the other hand there are here a lot of birches like mountain birch
(Betula pubescens subsp. tortuosa).
The morning begins to look brighter in a Hylocomium-Myrtillus-type forest.When this picture was taken (9.9.03),
the autumn colors were rather nice on the trees, but at early stage in the forestfloor (See autumn colors!).
