Pictures about the nature of North-Finland: year 2003

At the at the beginning of october is the time of autumn colors at the end, also in the southern parts of Lapland.
Wind removes the leaves from the deciduous trees. But they will outstay in the field layer:
For instance the leaves of bog bilberry (Vaccinium uliginosum) are nice, violetreddish...
The are in this picture some twigs of marsh tea (Ledum palustre), too*).
*) Bog billberry and march tea are in the northern areas groving in the forest, too.

In this summer the berry production of cranberry (Vaccinium oxycoccos) has been very good in meny places
of norhern Finland. Certainly dryness actuated to the sort of berries: they turn yellow. This year's berries of cranberry
taste good also in the next spring, when the berries - after the winterfrosts - are even more sweet than in the autumn.
