A two day short course entitled "Hydrothermal processes and mineral resources" was given by SEG Distinguished Lecturer Prof. Lluís Fontboté (University Genève) at Oulu Mining School (9. and 10.11. 2017). The course was attended by students from Oulu, Luleå (LTU) and Tromsö (UiT) as well as mining company geologists. It was an intensive two days with many insights into the current understanding of fluid evolution and mineralizing processes in hydrothermal systems with many examples from active mines in Latin America. Many discussions showed that the topic was very intersting and thought provoking.
Generous support from the Society of Economic Geologists and NordMin (A nordic network of expertise for a sustainable mining and mineral industry) is highly appreciated. The event was co-organized by the SEG Nordic Student Chapter - University of Oulu and Nikoli (Oulun yliopiston geologinen kerho).
