By its very nature, the RC promotes collaboration between disciplines, especially across the interface of biological sciences with statistics and bioinformatics. The functioning of the RC will train experts each in their own areas, but who have sufficient broader skills, and importantly, practice and experience in interdisciplinary collaborative projects, and communication inside the RC. The extensive networks of RC groups further contribute to the international active community. The research community will have joint meetings once a month and an annual two day meeting. The national population genetics doctoral programme will contribute to this effort by organizing formal courses. Further, training is also provided by the Biocenter Oulu.
