Welcome to the www-pages of the Systems Engineering Research Unit!

The Systems Engineering  Research Unit conducts research on theory and methods of control and systems engineering with applications, applications in energy engineering in particular. The field covers eg the following area: modelling of dynamics, estimation/identification/monitoring, control, optimization/decision making and maintenance of process operation.

Systems Engineering is strong in modelling of dynamic systems, control theory, methods of optimization and AI. We emphasize on scientific skills in control of dynamic (energy) systems. We conduct research in cooperation with the world's largest CFB manufacturer (Sumitomo Foster-Wheeler Energia Oy), energy companies and process industry.

The Systems Engineering unit conducts research and gives teaching on theory and methods of control and systems engineering and their applications. Our education covers control theory from basics to advanced methods, automation systems, and supervision of theses (BSc, MSc, PhD). We develop automation education in cooperation with other regional education instututes (Oulu UAS, OSEKK).
