Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the University of Oulu service e-Forms – Electronic forms and has been updated on September 11, 2025. It was first published on December 3, 2019. The Act on the Provision of Digital Services obliges us as a public sector organisation to comply with accessibility requirements in our digital services.

The statement is based on an accessibility assesment prepared by an accessibility expert at Exove oy.

Accessibility status of the digital service

Partially meets accessibility requirements.

Non-accessible content

Website not yet fully compliant

·        Perceivable: Multiple form labels or text equivalent

Inaccessible content and its shortcomings

A form control has more than one label associated with it. A form control should have at most one associated label element. If more than one label element is associated to the control, assistive technology may not read the appropriate label.

Accessibility requirements that are not met

o  1.1.1 Non-text content

·        Perceivable: Layout table

Inaccessible content and its shortcomings

A layout table is present. Layout tables exist merely to position content visually - to create columns, insert spacing, or align content neatly for sighted users. They can introduce reading and navigation order issues. Screen readers may interpret them as data tables (i.e., announcing column and row numbers). This introduces significant overhead on screen reader users.

Accessibility requirements that are not met

o  1.3.1 Info and relationships

·        Perceivable: Content does not scale to portrait on mobile device

Inaccessible content and its shortcomings

The drop-down menu for certain form fields is not fully visible if the form is used vertically on a mobile device. It is necessary to change the device to landscape orientation to see the entire contents of the page.

Accessibility requirements that are not met

o  1.3.4. Orientation

·        Perceivable: Low contrast in logged-in user data pointing and targeting mode

Inaccessible content and its shortcomings

The contrast in the logged-in user information displayed at the top of the page is not sufficient in pointing and hovering.

Accessibility requirements that are not met

o  1.4.3. Contrast (minimum)

·        Perceivable: Text resizing more than 150 % loses some table headings

Inaccessible content and its shortcomings

Some column headings in a table element disappear if the text size is increased by more than 150 %.

Accessibility requirements that are not met

o  1.4.4 Resize text

·        Perceivable: Low contrast in the icon in the admin view

Inaccessible content and its shortcomings

In the admin view, the contrast of the question mark icon in the additional information field of the forms is low.

Accessibility requirements that are not met

o  1.4.11 Non-text Contrast

·        Operable: The user is not warned before automatic logoff

Inaccessible content and its shortcomings

The service has a 90-minute time-out, after which the user is logged out automatically. It is not possible to adjust the time limit. The user will not receive a separate warning before time expires. (The time-out is informed in notification text on the front page.)

Accessibility requirements that are not met

o  2.2.1 Timing Adjustable

·        Operable: No accessible name in the workflow text area

Inaccessible content and its shortcomings

The forms worklow text areas do not have accessible name.

Accessibility requirements that are not met

o  4.1.2 Name, Role, Value

·        Operable: Div element has attributes that do not belong to it

Inaccessible content and its shortcomings

The div elements surrounding the date fields have attributes that do not belong to them.

Accessibility requirements that are not met

o  4.1.2 Name, Role, Value
