Degree Programme in Technology Oriented Primary Teacher Education

In Technologically Oriented Primary Teacher Education, technology education combines mathematical and scientific ingredients and knowledge and skills in technical work with educational sciences. The programme gives the qualification of a primary teacher and is aimed at students who are interested in technology and teaching it in general education.

Technology is understood in this connection broadly both as a theoretical approach, application of technology based on science subjects, and in terms of concrete production based on practical activity. From the educational point of view, there is a special focus on the problematics between man and machine (man-machine relations), the problematics between technology and ethics (such as environmental education), and the various stages and forms of technological education. Familiarisation with educational technology makes it possible for a student to develop into an expert of learning environments. Familiarity with the mathematical and natural sciences as well as technical sciences provides the students with an ability to integrate technology teaching across subject boundaries.
