Other Master's Programmes (2015-2016)

The core of educational sciences is formed by education and training which cover the entire human life cycle from early childhood education through the learning and teaching of children and adolescents to educational planning and other expert tasks. The education provides qualifications for educational tasks in a diversified world and prerequisites for doctoral education.

A speciality is constituted by the differently focused primary teacher education programmes. In addition to the normal primary teacher education the students can focus on creative arts or technology. Furthermore there is interrcultural teacher education with English as a language of tuition. There are also programmes for kindergarten teachers, music teachers and special education teachers.

The programme in education has a focus on research and teaching in educational philosophy. We also have expertise and teaching in psychology, sociology, educational technology, women’s and gender studies and multiculturalism.

Theory and practice go hand in hand in the teaching, so theoretical studies are linked together with practice periods. A variety of working methods are being used. All the degree programmes lead to the degree of Master of Arts (Education) where the major subject can be education, educational psychology, music education or education, especially early childhood education. Students may choose their minors from among those offered by the faculty, but they may also apply for those offered by other faculties, thus profiling their degree in an individual manner.
