EIT RM University Days arranged at the University of Oulu, Finland, 1st of September 2020.
Welcome to participate in the EIT RawMaterials University days, RMUD, that will be organized remotely via live streaming and video material.
RMUD allows students to gain knowledge of the current state-of-the-art and innovation in the respective fields of science and network with the industry and researchers.
MSc students of mining related disciplines (geosciences, mineral processing engineering and mining engineering) are invited to participate in one-day workshops organized by the Oulu Mining School and funded by the EIT RawMaterials. The geoscientific content of the workshop will focus on the data processing of the drill core geochemical data using IMDEX ioGASTM geochemical plotting software. Principal teacher will be Dr. Nick Cook from the Mawson Resources Ltd.
The mining engineering workshop will focus on the determination of uniaxial compression strength (UCS) on cylindrical sample like drill core both static and dynamic methods using hydraulic press and split Hopkinson pressure bar measurements with grindability testing by Bond work index determination. This provides information about rock failure behaviour and hardness that will benefit mine planning, blasting and mineral processing.
The mineral processing workshop incorporates flotation pilot plant run concerning comminution (crushing and grinding) and the flotation process including use of the process control software.
Further details will be published soon. The event is also opening for Oulu Mining Summit 2020, that is arranged 2-3.9.2020.
