New event series: Virtual Tellus Goes Abroad

We’re launching a series of online events at Virtual Tellus which will connect our academic community to our alumni and students from abroad. Virtual Tellus Goes Abroad events are organized to elevate human connection at the times when many of the borders are closed and travelling is nearly impossible.

The events will see guests from all over the world visiting Virtual Tellus to have wide-ranging conversations with us. Together, we will discuss how people are experiencing the current times in different parts of the world, share tips on remote working and staying in touch with our beloved ones, and just chat. As the events will be streamed live, you will be able to ask questions from the guests and participate in the conversations.

The first episode airs on Wednesday, 8.4., 13:00-13:40. Join here:

If you’ve been following Tellus for a while now, the faces of our first episode will be familiar to you. We are excited to welcome our very own Tellus alumni who are living in different parts of the world right now:

Udgum Khadka (connecting from Nepal)
Sebastian Frey (connecting from Germany)
Alper Polat (connecting from Oulu, originally from Turkey)
Anastasia Shiverskikh (connecting from Mexico)

Virtual Tellus Goes Abroad events are organized under the new UniOulu’s “Go International” event brand for the Internationalization at Home- and mobility-related events. Highly acclaimed Festival of Cultures, a celebration of our University's diversity, multiculturalism and partnership network, will be organized under the “Go International” brand starting from 2020.
