The King‘s Day, one of the biggest national holidays in the Netherlands, celebrates the birthday of Willem-Alexander, the king of the Netherlands. On this day, people gather on the streets wearing orange, the official colour of the royal family, have flea markets and party like it’s the birthday of their King.
This April, we are bringing some of that oranjegekte (orange madness) to the University of Oulu in cooperation with the Dutch community of Oulu and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Helsinki. The King’s Day celebration will take place in the main corridor of the University on the 26thof April from 14 to 17. There will be Dutch food, music, games, competitions and a photobooth with traditional Dutch costuming. Put on all your orange clothes and join the party.
