The University of Oulu is targeting strategic support to 12 research projects in the University’s two out of five strategic focus areas of research, “Creating sustainability by materials and systems” and “Earth and near-space system and environmental change” during term 2017-2020. The research projects have been selected through a peer-review by a scientific evaluation committee. The research projects and the related doctoral training are implemented in research groups of the faculties of the University. There are presently nine Doctoral student positions open in the research projects. More information and the calls for the positions can be found here. In all, there are 13 Doctoral student positions funded in the projects.
The research projects will be introduced in a research seminar and workshop arranged on 20 – 21. November at Tellus Innovation Arena at the University of Oulu. The seminar is open for all interested. The seminar program and more information at the seminar web page.
A task of promoting multidisciplinary research and coordinating the Technology and Natural Sciences Doctoral Program will be at the new focus institute Kvantum, which will start on 1 January, 2018. Other focus institutes are Biocenter Oulu, Eudaimonia and Infotech Oulu.
