Course description

The purpose of the course is to offer the participants a broad perspective on different ways to approach innovation such as types of innovation and different innovation management approaches. Participants are given practical examples on managing innovation. No pre-requisites are required.

Target group
Doctoral students of University of Oulu Graduate School

Learning outcomes
During the course, the participants learn to demonstrate knowledge of different innovation types, strategic approaches to innovation and innovation management. Upon completion of the course, the participants will develop their skills for discussing related issues and solving practical challenges. They will also learn to solve practice-oriented innovation management cases.

Mode of delivery
Remote lectures and exercises, independent study.

The course consists of 24 hours of lectures that include individual and group assignments during lectures. Reading the course literature, writing the learning diary and possible other course assignments (57 h). The responsible person will provide further details.

Working life cooperation: Case examples

Materials are provided by the lecturers.

Course completion and assessment criteria
Active participation, individual and group assignments and reading the course literature.
