BALTIC SEA UNDERGROUND INNOVATION NETWORK (BSUIN) closing webinar 2020 9:00 am EET: Postmining use of underground mines – safety, sustainability, social acceptance & economy
The Baltic Sea Underground Innovation Network (BSUIN) includes 13 full partners and six unique underground facilities, laboratories (UL’s), and test-sites in the Baltic Sea region. During the past three years, the BSUIN project has concentrated on making these facilities more accessible for current and future users. A key goal has been to understand the infrastructural challenges and possibilities of the UL’s, and to attract a broader spectrum of users into their facilities. The project is coordinated by the University of Oulu Kerttu Saalasti Institute.
The webinar is hosting talks covering the key outcomes and recommendations for underground laboratories in general, and best practices on how the facilities can act as hubs for innovation and business incubators. As most of the UL’s are located in active- postmining phase mines, the guest talks are concentrating on the possibilities of UL’s, user cases and the future of UL’s and the BSUIN network.
