Changing climate and northern environment
The Academy of Finland Centres of Excellence (CoE) are internationally competitive flagships of Finnish science and research. Centres of Excellence strive for scientific breakthroughs, develop high-quality creative research environments and train talented researchers for the needs of academic research and industry.
In the Changing climate and northern environment focus area, the University of Oulu is coordinating the Centre of Excellence in Research on Solar Long-term Variability and Effects (ReSoLVE), directed by Kalevi Mursula.
In the focus area, the University of Oulu is a partner in the following Centres of Excellence:
Centre of Excellence in Inverse Problems Research, coordinated by the University of Helsinki (Markku Lehtinen and Valeriy Serov from the University of Oulu)
Centre of Excellence in Analysis and Dynamics Research, coordinated by the University of Helsinki (Maarit Järvenpää from the University of Oulu)
Nordic Centres of Excellence (NCoE) increase and facilitate cooperation between excellent Nordic researchers, researcher groups or institutions. The most important selection criterion is leading-edge research of a high international standard. The NCoEs are funded by the Nordic Research Councils, the Nordic Council of Ministers and NordForsk.
