Modou B. Leigh
International Business Management
Modou Basirr Leigh is my name, I am currently doing my Master’s degree in International Business Management (IBM) at the University of Oulu. Pursuing such a program will provide me with a good understanding on what international business management entails, its dynamics and challenges of managing multinational companies as well as the fundamentals of strategic management, cross-cultural management and globalization among others. My level of optimism has soared ever since the programme began. I strongly believe with such a program, I will acquire the much required toolkit needed towards attaining the organizational goals and objectives in the fast paced world of international business management.
Oulu is a wonderful city. I felt like home since my arrival. It’s more like moving from one home to another because the people I have met here are very open and friendly, especially those at the University of Oulu. My Kummi (Student Tutor) was very helpful during my preparation and arrival in Oulu. She guided me through from day one which has made my stay and study life in the University very easy and pleasurable as it didn’t take me long to catch up with the University life. Student life at the university is very well balanced with activities from the Network of International Students in Oulu (NISO) and Erasmus Student Network (ESN) among other organizations. My participation in this wide range of social events has incredibly helped me to build good network within my short period of stay in Oulu.
I have always had the passion and commitment to contribute and serve wherever I found myself. As an international student, I believe coming to Oulu, Finland will be a great platform for me not only to have a degree but to network and interact with students from all over the world. I believe that learning does not only stop within the four walls of the class room, it certainly transcends beyond that. However, the interactions with the alumni ambassador activities such as providing voluntary services and most importantly being able to sell the ideas, mission and vision of the university to my compatriots sum up my ideals of partaking in this program.
