The cooperation negotiations will be started at the Teachers, Teaching and Educational Communities (Faculty of Education) research unit, targeted at music education staff as well as music, instruments and singing instructors, and also at the Astronomy (Faculty of Science) research unit. An action plan without cooperation negotiations will be started at the Department of Economics, Accounting and Finance (Oulu Business School).
With regard to the units of the faculties of Education and Science, the action plans are motivated by, among other things, the low number of completed degrees in the degree programmes. The Department of Economics, Accounting and Finance seeks to achieve a more appropriate and flexible allocation of resources.
The cooperation negotiations apply to a total of 22 persons, and the need for staff cutbacks is estimated to be up to 6 persons.
An invitation to the negotiations will be delivered to staff representatives as soon as possible. The actual negotiations will be started in the week beginning 18 February. The negotiations will last at least two weeks in accordance with the Act on Co-operation within Undertakings, as the employer is considering to serve notice of termination, lay-off or reduce a contract of employment into a part-time contract for under 10 employees. The negotiations are estimated to end on 11 March, after which decisions will be made on the action plans.
