Applicants were able to choose from 21 two-year master’s programmes and two five-year programmes starting from bachelor level. Two-year master’s programmes received 2405 applications. The new five-year programme Digitalisation, Computing and Electronics received 386 applications and Intercultural Teacher Education received 170 applications.
Applicants could apply for up to six programmes. Altogether 593 study places are available in international programmes starting in autumn 2021.
Digitalisation, Computing and Electronics (386 applications), International Business Management (383 applications), and Computer Science and Engineering (337 applications) received most applications. The four completely new English taught master’s programmes at the University of Oulu attracted applicants around the world: Business Analytics (275 applications); Epidemiology and Biomedical Data Science (185 applications); Electronics (131 applications) and Chemistry of Sustainable Processes and Materials (66 applications).

The majority of applications was received from Finland, followed by Pakistan and Bangladesh. More detailed numbers will be available at later date.
Most of the student selections for the international programmes will be published in the beginning of March.
