University of Oulu learning resources to be easily accessible at the library of Open Educational Resources

The University of Oulu has decided to recommend to use the national Library of Open Educational Resources for opening  learning materials.

The Library of Open Educational Resources of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the National Agency for Education, published in the spring 2020, combines the necessary platform, licenses and metadata for open educational resources. For teachers and students The Library provides a permanent and visible place for a variety of open learning materials. By the end of 2020, a permanent unique identifier (URN:NBN) will be available. In the future, the materials will also be available in the Finna site of the University of Oulu Library.

Accessibility is an integral part of the digitalisation of teaching, and the Accessibility Directive is another issue that was included in the Open Learning policy.

Open Education is part of the University of Oulu's Program of Responsible Research policy that helps the University to promote open utilization of knowledge both in scientific research and in society. According to the University of Oulu's strategy, openness of research is an integral part of the actions of the university community. The policy now states:

“We recommend using the national Library of Open Educational Resources for opening educational resources.”
“We require that educational resources and other digital content comply with accessibility requirements”.
