Student admissions results published – congratulations to all successful applicants!

All the student admissions results for the University of Oulu have now been published.

In spring 2020, a total of 17,095 applicants applied for the Finnish-language degree programmes at the University of Oulu. 5,643 applicants, or 33 percent, applied primarily to study at the University of Oulu. The admissions quota of new students in Finnish-language programmes at the University of Oulu is about 2 700. The largest number of applicants applied to study in the fields of medicine, business, primary teacher education, dentistry, logopedics, and biology.

Compared to last year, the number of applicants increased most in the fields of geography, logopedics, civil engineering and primary teacher education. The new degree programme in health sciences received almost 500 applicants.

The most popular Finnish-language master’s programmes were the three master’s programmes in health sciences (Health Management Science, Nursing Science and Teacher Education Programme in Health Sciences), Financial and Management Accounting, Civil Engineering and Special Early Childhood Teacher Education.

In addition, international master’s programmes received altogether 2,314 applications. Computer Science and Engineering (398 applications), International Business Management (339 applications), and Wireless Communications Engineering (266 applications) received most applications. Most growth in application numbers was seen in the following master’s programmes: Architecture (51%), Wireless Communications Engineering (41%) and Software, Systems and Services Development in the Global Environment (41%). Altogether 478 study places are available in international programmes starting in autumn 2020.
