The University of Oulu’s score increased in the fields of teaching, industry income and international outlook but dropped slightly in terms of research, citations and overall points. Like many other Finnish universities, the University of Oulu’s ranking decreased somewhat this time. This is partly due to the improved performance of universities in developing countries and especially in China.
Oulu’s ranking was 3–4 among Finnish universities, which is the same position as last year. The University of Helsinki and Aalto University continued at the top of the list.
The fields of teaching, research and citations each carry a weight of 30% in the respected Times Higher Education World University Ranking. International outlook accounts for 7.5%, and industry income for 2.5% of the overall score.
This year’s THE World University Ranking evaluated more than 1,500 of the world’s best universities from 93 countries.
