Changes to the use of unheated parking spaces at the Linnanmaa campus starting from 1 January 2020

A new practice concerning unheated parking spaces controlled by the University of Oulu will be introduced at the Linnanmaa campus on 1 January 2020.  The new practice aims to ensure that the unheated parking spaces are available to university staff and students.  The change will be implemented at the Linnanmaa campus due to the arrival of approximately 1,100 new persons in the first phase of the move of the Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The number of parking spaces available to university staff and students will not be reduced through the change.

The unheated parking spaces controlled by the university in Linnanmaa form a single parking entity independent of the parking area. At Linnanmaa, the access right to an unheated parking space covers all unheated parking spaces controlled by the university in the university’s parking areas, but the right does not cover parking spaces controlled by SYK (University Properties of Finland Ltd) and Oulu UAS. In order to use unheated parking spaces at the Linnanmaa campus, university staff and students must log in to the eParking system with their HAKA credentials and book their access right to an unheated parking space.

Booking your access right is free of charge from 1 January to 31 May 2020. You can confirm your access right to a parking space by providing the registration number of your car. The access right does not guarantee that there will be available parking spaces; it only enables the use of a parking space.

The access right to an unheated parking space does not entitle you to park anywhere other than in the parking area controlled by the university and designated for parking. It will also not entitle you to use parking spaces equipped with heating outlets. The heated parking spaces are reserved for those who have paid for a heated space.

There are unheated parking spaces available to the university in parking areas P1 (217 slots), P3 (16 slots), P4 (77 slots), P5 (87 slots), P9 (11 slots), P11 (66 slots) and P12 (98 slots). If necessary, parking slots in parking areas in joint use will be separated with operator-specific (Uni Oulu, SYK, Oulu UAS) signs.

The principles of the upcoming parking model have been discussed with the Student Union and student representatives of the University as well as with staff representatives in the Co-Operation Council.
